Our Digital Credentials

At theshakeel.com, we currently offer three types of credentials: Open Learning Certificates (PDF), Digital Badges, and Open Credentials. Learners currently choose one upon course completion. However, we are working to provide all three credentials at the same price in the near future. This will allow students to showcase their achievements by embedding the credentials on their websites, adding them to social media profiles like LinkedIn, and displaying them on freelance platforms such as Upwork, giving them broader recognition and credibility across multiple platforms.

An Open Learning Certificate is a digital or physical certificate awarded to learners upon completion of an online course or program, typically through open learning platforms. These certificates are designed to validate and recognize the learner’s achievements, skills, or knowledge gained during the course.
Key features of an Open Learning Certificate include:
- Downloadable Format: Often provided as a PDF, it can be easily downloaded, printed, or shared.
- Customizable: Contains information like the learner’s name, course title, date of completion, verification code and sometimes the institution or instructor’s signature.
- Recognition: While not always accredited, these certificates still offer value as proof of learning, especially in skill-based or professional development courses.
- Open Access: Open learning platforms like theshakeel.com often provide courses for free or at a lower cost, making these certificates accessible to a wider audience.
At theshakeel.com, a Digital Badge is a visual representation of your achievements, skills, or competencies that you earn by completing specific courses or tasks. Unlike traditional certificates, digital badges are issued through online platforms and come with embedded metadata, which provides details about what you achieved and the criteria required to earn the badge.
Here are some key features of our digital badges:
Verifiable Credentials: Each badge has a unique URL or code that allows others to easily verify its authenticity and the requirements for earning it.
Portable: You can share your badges across various platforms, including social media like LinkedIn, personal websites, and online portfolios, showcasing your skills to a wider audience.
Skill-Based Recognition: Digital badges highlight specific skills or competencies, making it clear to employers or peers what you have accomplished.
Gamification Element: We incorporate gamification principles, rewarding you for your progress and accomplishments, which encourages deeper engagement with the content.
Flexibility: You can earn badges for a range of activities, including online courses, workshops, volunteer work, or specific projects.
Digital badges are a great way to recognize your hard work and commitment to lifelong learning, and they help you stand out in the competitive job market.
Open Digital Credentials or Open Badges are a type of digital credential that provides a standardized way to recognize and verify skills, achievements, or learning outcomes. They are designed to be easily shareable and portable across various platforms, allowing individuals to showcase their accomplishments in a verifiable manner.
Key Features of Open Digital Credentials / Open Badges:
Standardization: Open Badges adhere to an open standard developed by the Mozilla Foundation, ensuring interoperability between different platforms and systems.
Metadata: Each badge contains metadata that includes information such as the criteria for earning the badge, the issuing organization, the date it was awarded, and a unique identifier. This information makes it easy for others to verify the badge’s authenticity.
Portability: Recipients can share their Open Badges on social media, personal websites, and professional profiles, such as LinkedIn, enhancing their visibility and credibility.
Skill Recognition: Open Badges focus on specific skills or competencies, allowing employers or peers to quickly understand what an individual has achieved and the context behind it.
Lifelong Learning: These credentials support lifelong learning by enabling individuals to collect and display a variety of achievements throughout their educational and professional journeys.
Issuer Control: Organizations that issue Open Badges have control over the criteria for earning them and can set their own standards, ensuring that the badges reflect meaningful accomplishments.
Open Badges are widely used in education, professional development, and informal learning environments, providing a modern approach to recognizing and validating learning and skills in an increasingly digital world.
